What You'll Learn
This guide shows you how to attach barcodes, QR codes, and bSecure stickers to assets, properties, and logbooks using the Uptick mobile app on iOS and Android devices. These scannable identifiers help you quickly locate and manage assets during inspections and maintenance work.
Before You Begin: Setup Requirements
You will need the bSecure module enabled in your Uptick workspace. If you don't see this option in your main menu, contact [email protected].
Required Permissions: Your security group must have these permissions enabled:
Can see all tasks
Can create assets
Can update and archive assets
Can create and update properties
Learn more about permissions and security groups.
Understanding the Difference:
Barcodes & QR Codes: Standard scannable patterns that encode information like serial numbers or reference IDs.
bSecure Stickers: Enhanced QR codes that work within the Uptick app and can also be scanned by anyone with a standard QR reader to view limited public information (like compliance status and service dates) without exposing sensitive business data.
iOS Instructions
Attach Barcodes, QR Codes or bSecure to an Asset (iOS)
Open the asset and navigate to the Edit Asset tab
Under bSecure or Barcode, tap either Scan or Manually Edit
Tap Save in the top right corner
What gets displayed when scanned: When someone scans a bSecure sticker on an asset, they'll see: photo, asset type, location, service history, active remarks, and expected lifecycle.
Filter Assets by Scanning Codes (iOS)
Open a task and navigate to the Work or Products tab
Tap the Barcode scanner icon in the bottom left corner
Scan the barcode, QR code, or bSecure sticker
Note: The barcode scanner filters only assets listed on that specific task. To search all assets on the property, go to the Work tab, tap View all assets, then scan.
Attach bSecure to a Property (iOS)

Pro Tip: Once a bSecure sticker is attached to a property and placed securely onsite (e.g., inside a logbook cabinet), desk users can upload documents that will be publicly viewable when the sticker is scanned.
Attach Barcode or QR Code to a Logbook (iOS)
Navigate to the Finalisation tab and tap Complete Logbook
Either add a new logbook or open an existing one
Tap Details
Under Barcode, tap Scan or Manually Edit
