The License Manager is your dashboard for monitoring user license usage in real-time. It helps you track how many licenses you're using each month and compare that to your contract allowance.

What is the License Manager?

The License Manager is a built-in tool in the Uptick Web Platform that allows you to:

  • Monitor usage - See how many desk and field licenses are being used in the current month

  • Compare to your contract - View your usage against your contracted license allowance

  • Track changes - See increases or decreases in license usage

  • Understand billing - Any changes in license usage will be reflected in your next invoice from Uptick


How to Access the License Manager

Step 1: Click the cog icon at the bottom of the main menu on the left side of your screen

Step 2: Navigate to the Uptick subscription tab in the Control Panel

Step 3: Select License Manager

Important: Access to the License Manager is restricted to users in the Owner security group. If you don't see this option, contact your system administrator to request access.


Understanding License Usage

How Licenses Are Calculated

Licenses are based on usage (number of logins), not the number of active users you have stored in Uptick.

  • Full license: A user who logs in for 5 or more days in a month = 1 full license

  • Half license: A user who logs in for less than 5 days in a month = 0.5 license

This means occasional users (like business owners or sales staff who only log in a few times per month) won't count as a full license.

License Types Tracked

The License Manager displays usage for:

  • Desk licenses - Users accessing Uptick via web browser

  • Field licenses - Technicians using the Uptick App

  • Total licenses - Combined desk and field usage

Managing Your Licenses

If You Need More Licenses

If your usage exceeds your contracted allowance, additional licenses will automatically be charged based on your agreement. The system monitors this for you, and any additional fees will appear on your next invoice.

If You Need Fewer Licenses

To reduce your license usage:

  1. Go to People > Users in the Uptick Web Platform

  2. Review your current users

  3. Deactivate users who no longer need access (see Create and manage a user)
