There are several ways to set up assets in Uptick.

1. Add assets directly into your server via Quick Add or Bulk Manage on a property.
If you only need to set up a few assets or make a change here or there, we advise doing it directly within the system rather than through the importer.

2. Add multiple assets using the data importer.

We recommend using the data importer method when:

  • Uploading initial data migration into Uptick

  • When making changes to a specific field(s) across many assets

This article will show you how to format your import spreadsheet in order to bring your core assets data into Uptick.

Step 1: Populate your data for upload

  1. Download the Data Import Template Spreadsheet below.

  2. Fill out the spreadsheet with the information you want to upload. Please note some fields are required.

  3. Save as a .csv file

Required fields

You must have Clients and Properties in your Uptick server to import Assets.

Below are some articles to assist you:

Field name on CSV template:

property

is_active

type

variant

Field name in Uptick:

Property Reference

Active

Type

Variant

Description:

This is the property reference (often generated by Uptick).

Top Tip! Download the CSV of all your properties from your Uptick server to get a list of all the property names and property references. Copy and paste this information onto your CSV Data Import Template spreadsheet.

Choose from the following options:

TRUE - asset is actively maintained on site (Most assets)

FALSE - asset is no longer active on site (rare)

This is the category of your asset.
You must select this from the asset types available in your server. You can find this in your Control Panel > Asset Types).

This must the precise (e.g. no spelling errors or extra spaces).

This is the sub-type of your asset.

You must select variants that are available in your Uptick server. You can find this in your Control Panel > Asset Types > Variants.

If the preferred variant does not exist in your server, you'll need to create it before using it.

This must the precise (e.g. no spelling errors or extra spaces).

Non-Required fields we recommend

Field name on CSV template:

location

base_date

Field name in Uptick:

Location

Base Date

Description:

This is the location of this asset (include level if applicable e.g. Level 2, Building 1).

The base date is commonly the date of manufacture. This may also refer to when the last major service was carried out on your asset. (A major service is anything higher than a yearly check).

Format: YYYY-MM-DD

Uptick uses this to calculate the lifecycle of the asset, is referenced for non-contracted asset servicing or major programme maintenance requirements.

Step 2: Import your Data

  1. Sign in to your Uptick server

  2. Navigate to Tools > Data Importer

  3. In the field 'What are you importing?', select 'Assets'.

  4. Choose your import file (this should be the .csv file you have saved).

  5. Click 'Start'. (If your file is large this may take a few minutes)

  6. Complete your 'Field Mapping'. If you are using our template, the mapping should pre-populate for you.
Please check that the fields are mapped correctly.

Uploading data using your own spreadsheet? Check out the right-hand side for an overview of the Uptick fields and their descriptions to assist with Field Mapping.

  7. Click 'Save and Preview'.

  8. Review your preview to ensure that the data has passed all checks before proceeding.

If you receive errors, please fix these on your .csv file and click 'Re-upload file'.
You should see the green banner below before proceeding.

  9. Click 'Finalise'

  10. Your data should now be 'PROCESSING' with a Job status: RUNNING:

  11. When your data has finished being uploaded you will see 'FINISHED' and a Job status: DONE

  12. You can now navigate to Customer Data > Assets in your main menu to see your newly uploaded assets!
