There are 2 ways to set up clients in Uptick.
1. Add clients directly into your server
If you only need to set up a few clients or make a change here or there, we advise doing it directly within the system rather than through the importer.
2. Add multiple clients using the data importer.
We recommend using the data importer method when:
Uploading initial data migration into Uptick
When making changes to a specific field(s) across many clients
This article will show you how to format your import spreadsheet in order to bring your core client data into Uptick.
Step 1: Populate your data for upload
Download the Data Import Template Spreadsheet below.
Fill out the spreadsheet with the information you want to upload. Please note some fields are required.
Save as a .csv file

If you are using Client Groups, you must have these in your Uptick server before you can import Clients.
Here is an article on how create a client group.

Description: | Name of the entity receiving the invoice for your services.
| Options: TRUE - This is a current client you are actively servicing. The majority will be TRUE. FALSE - Client is not active, but you would like a record of them in your server. | Address of client's main office (Not necessarily the same as their site address) | First and Last name of the contact who will receive all communication | Email address of the main contact |

Step 2: Import your Data
Sign into your Uptick server
Navigate to Tools > Data Importer
In the field 'What are you importing?', select 'Clients'.
Choose your import file (this should be the .csv file you have saved).
Click 'Start'. (If your file is large this may take a few minutes)
Complete your 'Field Mapping'. If you are using our template, the mapping should pre-populate for you.
Please check that the fields are mapped correctly.

Click 'Save and Preview'.
Review your preview to ensure that the data has passed all checks before proceeding. If it has not, you may see an error screen, which looks like this:
If you receive errors, please fix these on your .csv file and click 'Re-upload file'. You should see the green banner above before proceeding.
If you need help understanding the error, please contact Uptick Support.
Click 'Finalise'
Your data should now be 'PROCESSING' with a Job status: RUNNING:
When your data has finished being uploaded you will see 'FINISHED' and a Job status: DONE
You can now navigate to People > Clients in your main menu to see your newly uploaded Clients!
