Overview
Floorplans let you digitally map assets on site layouts, making it faster to locate equipment across buildings and multiple floors. Your customers can also view these visual asset maps through their Customer Portal.

Before You Start
Requirements:
Floorplans must be enabled by the Uptick support team
You need the Can Change Floorplan permission to upload and edit floorplans
Floorplans must be in image or PDF format
Where to access Floorplans:
Uptick App: Tap Plans on the Work or Products tab of any task
Web Platform: Click Floor Plans under the Assets tab on each property
Customer Portal: Floorplans automatically appear when uploaded to a property
Note: To create assets from the floorplan in the app, the property must have routines. If there are no routines, go to View all assets onsite from the Work tab, then tap Plans.
Setting Up Asset Icons (Optional)
Customize how assets appear on floorplans by assigning icons to asset types. On the Web Platform and in downloaded floorplan PDFs, each asset appears as a pin that shows the icon of its asset type, or of its variant when the variant has one. A pin without an icon shows a plain head. On a crowded plan, pins keep their asset icons.
A pin is blue when the asset has no open remarks. Otherwise the pin takes a colour for the severity of the asset's most severe open remark.
To add icons:
Go to Control Panel > Asset Types
Click Edit on the asset type you want to customize
Click Set Advanced and select a Floorplan Icon
Using Floorplans on the Uptick App
Upload a Floorplan
Open a task and go to the Work tab
Tap PLANS
Choose your upload method:
Photo Gallery – Select an existing image
Take Photo – Capture a new image
Map – Use a Google Maps image (if available)
Tap Save, then Next
Place beacons on the corners of the building to anchor the floorplan
Beacons help maintain asset positions if you update the floorplan later
Place them on the same corners each time
Tap Next, name your floorplan (e.g., "Ground Floor" or "Building A"), and Save
Note: Replacing an existing floorplan can only be done via the Web Platform.
Add Assets to a Floorplan
To create a new asset:
On the Work tab, tap PLANS
Long-press on the floorplan where you want to add the asset
Tap Create Asset when it appears
Choose New Asset or Duplicate Existing Asset
Fill in the asset details and save
To place an existing asset:
Tap Arrange Assets > Place Existing Asset
Select an asset from the list
Drag the pin to the correct location and tap Save
To move an asset:
Tap Arrange Assets
Drag the asset pin to a new location and tap Save
Service Assets Using Floorplans
Open a task and go to the Work or Products tab
Tap PLANS
Select the floorplan you want to work on
A number next to each floorplan name shows how many unserviced assets remain
Tap on an asset to:
Quick service it
Add remarks or edit details
Additional tools:
Scan barcode – Locate assets by scanning their barcode
Search – Find specific assets by name
Filter by Asset Types – Show only certain asset types on the floorplan
Using Floorplans on the Web Platform
Add a Level and Upload a Floorplan
Adding a level opens a window that takes you through each step. You can skip every step after the first and come back to it later.
Go to the Assets tab on a property
Open Floor Plans and click Add Level
Enter a Floor plan name (e.g., "Ground Floor" or "Building A"), check the Level number and click Create
On the Upload floor plan step, upload an image or PDF. If your workspace is connected to Locatrix, click upload from Locatrix to choose a floor from there instead. Click Skip for now to upload the plan later
On the Set the beacons step, drag beacons A, B and C onto three corners of the building and describe each one. The descriptions start as Top left, Top right and Bottom left. Click Next, or Skip for now
The map overlay is not part of this window. It is opened from the edit dialog of the level, described in the next section.
The first level of a property is named Ground with a level number of 0. Each level after it is named Level followed by the next number above the highest existing level.
Level number sets the position of the level in the level list. Use zero for ground, negative numbers for underground and positive numbers for above ground. The list shows the highest number first. Underground levels are shown in brown.
When you create a level, Level number fills in from the first number in the name until you enter your own value. For example, "Level 3" gives 3, "Basement -1" gives -1, and a name without a number, such as "Ground Floor", gives 0.
Edit or Replace a Floorplan
Click Edit Level when viewing the floorplan on the Floor Plans tab. The Edit Floor Plan window lets you change the Floorplan name and Level number. A menu in the window header groups the image, beacon and map actions:
Upload new floor plan: Replace the plan image. The Line up the beacons step then opens. Move beacons A, B and C onto the same corners of the building on the new plan, and the pins move with them so they land in the same places. Click Save, or Skip for now
Fix beacons: Move or rename the beacons. The pins stay exactly where they are on the plan
Overlay on map: Drag beacons A, B and C onto the same corners of the building on the map to orient the plan against the real-world map. This is the only place the map overlay opens from
A level with no image shows a link to edit the level and upload the plan. In the edit window, the menu shows Upload floor plan in place of Upload new floor plan, and Fix beacons and Overlay on map appear once the level has an image. Click Save to keep changes to the name and level number, or Delete to remove the level.
Place Assets on a Floorplan
On the Floor Plans tab, select the relevant floorplan and click Place Pins
On the left side, the Not Placed tab lists assets not yet on the floorplan. Click On Plan to see the assets already placed. Use the search box to narrow either list
Drag assets from the list onto the floorplan, then click Save
To move or remove assets:
Move: Click, hold, and drag the asset to a new location
Remove: Drag the asset to the bin icon in the top-right corner
Note: You can only place existing assets via the Web Platform. Asset servicing must be done in the app. ESM (Essential Safety Measures) assets cannot be placed on floorplans as they are not physical assets.
Filter and Download a Floorplan
On the Floor Plans tab, select the floorplan
Click the filter icon beside the search box, choose the asset filters and click Apply. The floorplan shows only the matching assets. Click Clear to remove the filters
Click Download to download a PDF of the floorplan with the applied filters. The Download button has a short cooldown after each use
The PDF shows each asset as a pin with its icon. To list the assets beside the plan instead, click the arrow next to Download and choose Download with legend. The PDF is an A3 landscape page with a label for each asset in the margins either side of the plan, and a line from each label to its asset. Every label and pin links to the asset.
Download with legend is unavailable for floorplans with too many assets, and its tooltip reads Not available for more than 148 assets.
Managing Block Plans
If you need to track block plans (evacuation diagrams), create them as assets:
Set up an asset type called "Block Plans" in Control Panel > Asset Types
Create remark types for this asset type to track defects
Add block plan assets to properties as needed
Tips for Success
Use multiple floorplans – Add separate plans for each floor or building using the Add Level + button
Keep beacons consistent – Always place beacons in the same corners when updating floorplans
Integrate with Locatrix – For spatially accurate floorplans, consider the Locatrix integration
Check the Customer Portal – Verify that floorplans display correctly for your customers
