The Client Profitability Dashboard helps you understand which clients are most profitable, identify high-value sectors, and monitor financial performance across your entire client portfolio. Use this dashboard to optimize resource allocation, identify growth opportunities, and make strategic decisions about account management.

What You'll Learn

  • How to access and filter the dashboard

  • Understanding the three main sections: Summary, Portfolio Breakdown, and Client Revenue

  • How to identify your most profitable clients and sectors

  • Tips for using the data to improve your business

Accessing the Dashboard

Navigate to Insights and Reporting > Finance > Client Profitability in the Uptick Web Platform.

Important: All financial data shown is based on completed and archived tasks only. Tasks still in progress won't appear in the dashboard.

Filtering Your Data

At the top of the dashboard, you can filter your view to analyze specific segments of your business:

Time Period

  • Last 7 Days, 30 Days, 90 Days, or 12 Months (default: Last 12 Months)

  • This Calendar Year or Custom Date Range

  • Switch between Financial Year and Calendar Year views

Additional Filters

  • Client/Client Group – Focus on a specific client or group

  • Property – Analyze specific locations (multi-select available)

  • Account Manager – View profitability by account manager

  • Branch – Compare performance across branches

Tip: Combine filters to drill down into specific areas. For example, filter by Branch + Account Manager to see how a specific manager's clients are performing in a particular region.

This section gives you a high-level overview of your client portfolio's financial health.

Key Metrics

Total Net Invoiced Revenue
Total revenue billed across all completed and archived tasks (after credits).

Total Actual Costs
All costs incurred, including labour, materials, equipment, expenses, and subcontracted work.

Total Actual Profit
Calculated as: Total Revenue - Total Costs

Average Profit Margin
Your profitability percentage: (Total Profit / Total Revenue) × 100

  • Expandable Details – View full breakdown by category

Understanding "Pull-Through Rate"

This table helps you assess which service categories are generating revenue versus which are underutilized.

Example: A client with many properties might have high Preventative service potential but low actual Preventative revenue. This indicates an opportunity to expand services in that category.

Quick Start Guide

Step 1: Review Summary Metrics

Check your Total Net Invoiced Revenue, Total Actual Costs, and Total Actual Profit. Review the monthly trend chart to spot patterns.

Step 2: Analyze Top Sectors

Identify which sectors are most/least profitable. Look for opportunities to focus on high-margin sectors.

Step 3: Examine Top Clients

Review your 5 most profitable clients. Compare profit margins and identify which clients are driving overall profitability.

Step 4: Deep Dive into Client Revenue

Use the detailed table to:

  • Find clients with high revenue but low profit (potential cost issues)

  • Identify underutilized service categories for each client

  • Spot expansion opportunities using pull-through rate analysis

Step 5: Take Action

Use these insights to:

  • Prioritize accounts for business development

  • Identify cost management opportunities

  • Plan resource allocation based on profitability data

  • Develop strategies for underperforming clients
