This article is for office staff using the Uptick Web Platform.

Need to reorganise your asset register or correct a mistake? Uptick allows you to move assets from one property to another, ensuring your data stays accurate. This is useful for consolidating asset registers or when a property's assets are managed under a new site.

What You'll Learn

  • Two methods for moving assets between properties.

  • What data is transferred with the assets and what is not.

Important Information Before You Start

When you move an asset to a new property, most of its history is transferred with it, including:

  • All service history

  • All defect history

  • Asset details and specifications

However, it is critical to know that asset/defect photos and any attached documents will be lost during the transfer.

If you need to keep these photos and documents, you must manually download them from each asset before the move and then re-upload them to the assets in their new property location.

Method 1: Using Bulk Actions (Recommended)

This is the quickest and easiest method for moving multiple assets to a single new property.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. On the Uptick Web Platform, navigate to the property containing the assets you want to move.

  2. Go to the Assets tab.

  3. Filter and select the checkboxes next to the assets you wish to move. If you need to move all assets, you can click the Select all (x) assets link that appears.

  4. Click the Edit (x) assets button.

  5. In the popup window, find the Change property field.

  6. Search for and select the destination property.

  7. Click Apply changes to complete the move.

Method 2: Using the Data Importer

This method is useful if you are moving assets to multiple different properties or need to make other data changes at the same time.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. From the source property's Assets tab, download the assets as a CSV file.

  2. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet program (like Excel or Google Sheets).

  3. In the property_name or property_reference column, change the value to the name or reference of the new destination property.

  4. Review the file to ensure all column headings are correct for import.

  5. Save the file in CSV format.

  6. Navigate to Tools > Data Importer.

  7. Select 'Assets' from the dropdown menu, upload your file, and click Start.

  8. Follow the prompts to map your data and finalize the import.

By following these steps, you can efficiently manage and reorganise your asset registers across different properties.
