Learn how to service only a portion of assets at each visit, with the rest serviced at different times.

What You'll Learn

By default, routines list all applicable assets in a task. This guide shows you how to split assets across multiple visits for:

  • 20% detector testing (servicing 20% of detectors each year over 5 years)

  • Red/green/blue testing

  • Any partial servicing workflow

Prerequisites: You need tagged assets on your property. If you haven't set up tags yet, see Everything about Tags.

Step 1: Tag Your Assets

First, assign tags to organize which assets will be serviced during each visit.

Example Setup

For 50/50 split servicing:

  • Year 1 tag = 50% of assets serviced this year

  • Year 2 tag = remaining 50% serviced next year

Note: For 20% detector testing, you'll need 5 tags (one for each year), with service levels 5 years apart.

How to Tag Assets

  1. Go to the property and click Assets

  2. Select the assets you want to tag

  3. Click Edit (x) Assets

  4. Choose tags from the Add Tags dropdown

  5. Click Apply Changes

  6. Repeat for all asset groups

Step 2: Set Up Your Routines

Now configure routines to only apply to specific tagged assets.

Before You Start

Ensure you have:

  • ✅ Tagged assets on the property

  • ✅ Clearly named tags (so you know which routine schedule to use)

  • ✅ The correct service level options available for your timing requirements

Example Scenario

Service 50% of hose reels this year, 50% next year:

  • Both routines will be 2-yearly levels

  • Start dates will be 1 year apart

Add the Routines

  1. In the property, go to Routines > Manage Routine Services

  2. Click Add Routine

  3. Select the routine and tick the applicable service levels (e.g., Annual)

  4. Click Show advanced options

  5. Set the Annual Date and Start Date

  6. Click Add Routines to save

  7. Repeat steps 2-6 for the second routine, adjusting the start date for the gap between visits

Step 3: Link Tags to Routines

Connect each routine to its specific asset group.

  1. On the right side of the routine, click Actions > Edit

  2. In the Apply only to assets tagged with dropdown, select the appropriate tag

    • Example: One routine → Year 1 tag, other routine → Year 2 tag

  3. Click Save

Important: This field only appears if tagged assets exist on the property. Make sure assets are tagged first.

Verify Your Setup

When viewing Manage Routine Services, you'll see routines with tag restrictions displayed.

When tasks are generated, each task will only include assets matching the applicable tag.
