How to create new data via Uptick CSV Data Importer

Import your data in the following order, as datasets depend on existing data:

Who we are completing services for

1. Clients

2. Properties

3. Property Contacts

What services we are completing and how often

4. Assets

5. Routines

How we will invoice

7. Billing Contracts

8. Billing Contract Line Items

1. Follow the steps in each linked article to populate the data in a CSV file.

2. Navigate to Tools > Data Importer. Select the type of data (Clients, Properties, Assets etc), Choose file and click Preview import.

3. Map the CSV column headers to Uptick fields, ensuring accuracy even if some fields are prefilled. Then Click Save and Preview.

Blank fields will be skipped, and incorrect mapping will update the wrong field.

4. If the Preview shows errors, amend data in the original CSV file and click Re-upload file. Once all checks pass, click Finalise.

5. The import starts as PROCESSING with Job status: RUNNING and updates to FINISHED with Job status: DONE when complete.

Review Import Templates in Tools > Data Importer for any additional fields excluded from Simplified Data Import Templates or to create objects not listed above.

The Import Templates have the following structure

  • 'required' if the field is mandatory: Non-required field are left blank.

  • Display name of the field in Workforce: How this field is displayed in Uptick.

  • Description of data in this column: Type of data and formating required.

  • Example of data from this server: An example of the type of data to be input.

How to update existing data via Uptick CSV Data Importer

  • Without ID column, the importer will create new data instead of updating existing ones.

  • Remove any unchanged columns or rows to avoid unintended edits.

1. Go to the relevant page (e.g., Properties) and click Download to export the data as a Comma-separated values (CSV) file. Update the data in the file and save as CSV, the only format supported by the Importer.
