This article will take you through how to import your data into your new Uptick server. If you have any pre-existing data you would like to populate in your server, please follow the articles below to import the different data sets.
Top Tips!
We recommend importing your data in the following order as some data sets require existing data to be importable.
Use this as an opportunity to clean up your old data - what you put in is what you get out.
You can import data in batches following the same process - no need to import it all in at once

Importing Overview
To import Data, navigate to Tools > Data Importer
The importer page shows you all the different types of things you can import/update via the 'Import Templates' section. These Import Templates, if downloaded, will give you the required file you need to import and update data.
How to import data in bulk
Go to Tools > Data Importer and click the Import Template you wish to import data for and download the template.
Now simply add rows to that spreadsheet under the given column titles for each item you want to import.
For each type of data you want to import, most contain REQUIRED columns to be filled out, for example, for importing properties, you required the client column to be filled out.
Some imports also require certain data in your system before you can import.
Delete all the columns you aren't using
Once all the columns have been filled out, save the spreadsheet in a CSV format. Our importer only allows you to import from CSV format.
Return to the data importer and select the type of data you wish to upload.
Upload file > click Start
You'll be taken to a field mapping tool which allows you to map your spreadsheet columns to the appropriate Uptick field. This tool will automatically match the columns in your spreadsheet to fields it recognises, saving you time matching each field. Double check the automation has matched your columns correctly.
Click Save and Preview. This will validate the data in your spreadsheet and tell you if any errors have occurred. Re-upload your spreadsheet to fix any errors.
Once those checks have passed, click Finalise to run the import. When the import finishes, a summary will display the results.
How to update data in bulk
When bulk updating data using our importers, our importers only require you to keep your ID column from your downloaded Uptick spreadsheet, as well as the column you wish to update.
An example of the process of updating some information on a bunch of properties:
Go to the property list (Customer Data > Properties), filter for the properties you wish to update and download those properties.
In the produced spreadsheet, delete all the columns except the ID column, and the column/s you wish to update. The importer knows you are bulk updating instead of importing new data purely from that ID column that is left there, so it's important.
Once you've changed the data you wish to change, save the spreadsheet in a CSV format. Our importer only allows you to import from CSV format.
Go to Tools > Data Importer.
Select 'properties' > Upload file > click Start

How to navigate the importer templates
The first 4 rows of the importer templates are designed to guide you through how the template should be used. Note: The skip during import column is set as TRUE by default, allowing the importer to ignore the help rows. Do not change these values.
'required' if the field is mandatory | If the column has word required on this row, it is a required field. Non-required field will be left blank. |
Display name of the field in Workforce | This will show how this field will be displayed in Uptick |
Description of data in this column | The information on this row will provide information on the kind of formatting required for this field. |
Example of data from this server | This row provides an example of the type of data to be input. |
You can always find this help information on the screen after you click Start when uploading the file. The information summary will show you the appropriate information based on the import type (below is the help info after uploading keys and equipment)
Importing order
When bulk importing new data, some imports need to occur before the others as some imports require existing data to be present before it can accept a certain template. The table below outlines which imports require existing data and what should be uploaded first to allow the import to upload without errors.

Field Mapping Tool
Once you've selected the import type, uploaded the CSV file and clicked Start you'll be taken to a page featuring a field mapping tool. This gives you the opportunity to see how the system has picked up the column headers and allows you to manually map the columns in the CSV file to the right Uptick fields if required.
