How to add, edit, and submit timesheets, including allowances and session details, using the Timesheets tab on iOS and Android

Setup


Use the Timesheets tab to:

  • Edit the Performing Task and Travelling time sessions created using the Play and Pause buttons on the task.

  • Add time sessions for Break, Annual Leave or Toolboox meeting.

  • Add allowances.

  • Submit your timesheets for the day.

IOS: How to add, edit or trash a time session

Submitted time sessions cannot be edited in the app and require assistance from the office.

1. Navigate to the Timesheets tab and tap the + icon in the top-right corner or select an existing time session on the calendar.

2. Complete the Type, Start, Finish and Description fields.

3. Tap Save, Add or Trash Session.


IOS: How to add allowance

Allowances are only visible if enabled by the System Administrator in the Control Panel.

1. Go to the Timesheets tab, tap Allowances at the bottom of the calendar, then click + in the pop-up window.

2. Select the Type and enter the Amount, then tap Add.


IOS: How to submit timesheets

Submitting timesheets daily keeps time accurate while reducing mistakes and forgotten hours.

1. Go to Timesheets, review and adjust time sessions, or scroll left or right on the calendar to view previous or upcoming days.

2. Tap Submit at the bottom of the calendar, then Submit in the pop-up.


ANDROID: How to add or edit a time session

Troubleshooting Time Tracking

Having trouble with pausing, resuming, or managing your time sessions? Here are solutions to common issues:

Why can't I pause my task?

The "pause" button has been updated in recent app versions. Instead of a pause button, you'll now see a square "stop" icon when a task timer is running.

To pause for a break or switch tasks:

  1. Tap the square stop button on your active task

  2. Select "End session & update status" from the menu

  3. Choose whether to keep the task status as "In Progress" (for breaks) or change it to another status

  4. When ready to resume, tap "Start work" again

Note: All time sessions are automatically saved to your task, so your total time will be accurate even when pausing and resuming multiple times.

Why can't I see the timer controls or + button?

If timer controls or the + button in the Timesheets tab aren't visible:

Check your permissions:

  • Contact your office manager to ensure you have the "Can update tasks" permission in your security group

  • This permission is required to create, edit, and manage time sessions

Try these steps:

  • Make sure you're in the correct Timesheets tab from the main navigation

  • Scroll to the top of the timesheets view to ensure the + button is visible

  • Restart the app and try again

How do I track time for a multi-day job?

For jobs that span multiple days, follow this process to ensure accurate time tracking:

End of Day 1:

  1. Tap the square stop button on your task

  2. Select "End session & update status"

  3. Important: Keep the task status as "In Progress" (don't change to "Performed")

  4. Submit your timesheet for the day

Start of Day 2:

  1. Open the same task

  2. Tap "Start work" to begin a new time session

  3. Continue working as normal

This creates separate time sessions for each day while keeping all time linked to the same task.

Why can't I edit or delete a time session?

Submitted or approved sessions cannot be edited or deleted from the mobile app.

If you need to make changes:

  • Contact your office manager or supervisor

  • They can "un-submit" or "un-approve" your timesheet from the Uptick Web Platform

  • Once un-submitted, you'll be able to edit the session in the app again

For unsubmitted sessions:

  • Navigate to the Timesheets tab

  • Tap on the time session you want to edit

  • Make your changes to start/finish times or description

  • Tap Save

What if my tracked time looks incorrect?

For automatic time tracking:

  • Time sessions are created automatically when you use "Start work" and the stop button on tasks

  • Check the Timesheets tab to review all your time sessions for the day

  • You can manually adjust the start and finish times of unsubmitted sessions

For manual time entry:

  • Use the + button in the Timesheets tab to add missing time sessions

  • Ensure you select the correct Type (Performing Task, Travelling, Break, etc.)

  • Double-check your start and finish times before saving

Remember: Submit your timesheets daily to keep time accurate and reduce mistakes.
