Why Validate Addresses?
Uptick uses Google Maps to validate property addresses. This ensures accurate location data across your system and provides several benefits:
Prevents duplicate properties β Avoids creating multiple entries for the same site (e.g., "10 Studley Street" vs "8-12 Studley Street")
Enables accurate mapping β Technicians can navigate to the correct location
Improves data sharing β Subcontracted jobs can share asset and rectification information
Supports compliance β Automatically populates contractor maintenance statements and signoffs
Validate Addresses When Creating a Property
When creating a new property on the Uptick Web Platform:
Navigate to Customer Data > Properties and click Create Property
Start typing in the Validated Address field
Select the correct address from the dropdown list
The Display Address field will auto-populate with the same address
Complete the remaining required fields and click Create
Tip: Always select from the dropdown suggestions rather than typing the full address manually. This ensures proper geocoding.
Fix Addresses on Existing Properties
From the Properties Dashboard
If you have properties that need geocoding:
Go to Properties > Properties need geocoding (x)
Click Geocode next to the property
Start typing the address and select from the dropdown
Click Update address
From a Property Page
To update an address directly from a property:
Open the property and scroll to the Location section
Click Update
Start typing in the Search address field and select from the dropdown
Alternatively, expand Manually set address fields to enter address details manually
Click Update address
Note: If an address cannot be found via Google Maps (e.g., rural locations or Isle of Man addresses), use the Manually set address fields option.
Troubleshooting
Address not appearing in dropdown?
Try different variations (e.g., "St" vs "Street", include/exclude unit numbers)
Check if the address exists in Google Maps
For addresses not recognized by Google Maps, use manual address entry
Getting "address already in use" error?
Search for the property using different address formats
Check for existing properties with similar addresses under different clients
The address may already exist with slight variations
Address won't update?
Ensure you're selecting from the dropdown (not typing manually)
Try clearing your browser cache
