This article provides an overview of the core navigation elements of the Uptick web platform. Understanding these key areas will help you navigate the system efficiently.

What You'll Learn

  • How to use your Main Dashboard.

  • How to utilise the Universal Search Bar to find information quickly.

  • How to navigate the Main Menu and access the Control Panel.

  • Where to find and manage your User Profile.

The Main Dashboard

The Dashboard is your central hub in Uptick, designed to provide at-a-glance visibility into your daily operations.

  • Customisable Tiles (Favourites): You can personalise your dashboard by adding "Favourites" as tiles. These are "sticky" filtered views from other pages (like overdue tasks or specific client lists) that allow you to jump straight to the data you need.

  • Tile Management: Once added, you can colour-code tiles, rearrange them by dragging, or edit them using the pencil icon.

  • Customise your dashboard and:

    • Show filter bar
      To filter by service group

    • Show real-time tech activity panel
Many users include the Real-time Technician Activity map on their dashboard to monitor live field progress. Click Load tracking to see this information

    • Show programme maintenance task panels
To see the task status of your routine (I&T) tasks for the month by service group or by month

    • Show defects by asset type
To see your open defects by status and category

    • Show programme maintenance completion by month
To see your routine task completion rate for each month

Universal Search Bar

Located at the top of the web platform, the search bar allows you to find records across the entire system without navigating through specific menus.

  • What you can search:

    • Clients

    • Properties

    • Tasks

    • Defect Quotes

    • Service Quotes

    • Client & Property Contacts (including Phone Numbers)

  • Functionality: The search updates as you type, providing quick links to matching records.

  • The search bar typically works best with single keywords. For more complex queries, it is recommended to use the Filtering tools available on specific list pages.

The Main Menu (Sidebar)

The Main Menu is the vertical navigation bar located on the left side of your screen.

  • Core Sections: The menu is organised into functional areas such as Tasks, Properties, People, and Billing.

  • Insights and Reports: This section contains pre-built analytics dashboards, such as the Task Completion Dashboard and Financial Performance reports.

  • Sidebar Behaviour: The sidebar features a 0.5-second hover delay to prevent it from popping out accidentally when you move your mouse near the left edge of the screen.

  • Control Panel (The Cog Icon): At the very bottom of the main menu, you will find a cog icon (βš™οΈ). This is the gateway to the Control Panel, where users with administrative permissions can manage workspace settings, security groups, and extensions.

User Profile Area

Your user profile settings determine your personal experience and access levels within Uptick.

  • Accessing Settings: You can manage your account preferences and display settings through the profile area.

  • Security & Permissions: Your profile is linked to a Security Group, which controls which menus and data (like Insights and Reports) you are permitted to see.

  • Regional Assignments: Your profile also defines your Home Branch and Zones, which help the system filter relevant properties and tasks for your specific area of operation.

Pro Tip: Permissions

If you cannot see certain menu items (like the Control Panel cog or Insights and Reports), it is likely due to your security group permissions. Contact your system administrator to update your access levels.
