Uptick Terminology

The following terms are commonly used throughout Uptick. Get a feel for the primary concepts that make Uptick tick.

 

Asset: An asset is a physical object on property (eg. fire extinguisher 49 at front door) or an area on a property which requires regular inspection to comply with legislation and/ or OH&S concerns.

Asset type: An asset type is a grouping of assets that share a servicing standard (eg. fire extinguisher).

Billing cards: A billing card is a legal entity responsible for the property. A billing card aggregates the billing details of an entity; this includes:

- The entity's legal billing details (ABN, billing address) 

- Contact Details (Name, POC, Address). 

A billing card can be linked to Clients or to Properties and can be integrated with a Xero/MYOB contact to facilitate invoicing. 

Client: A client is the legal entity managing the property. This client can belong to a Client group. The client is characterised by a manager, who is the primary point of contact for the property and likes to receive all the correspondence for that property. The primary contact is the manager of the building or person who engaged your services.

Contractors/Sub-contractor: Contractors are suppliers or subcontractors that you engage.

Dispatch: Allows users to issue tasks, reports and invoices in an email. 

Groups: User groups - role-based access permissions.

Product: A product is something your business sells, often materials or labour.

Property:  A property is a container for all of the information about a physical address, or site. A property is characterised by being a client-managed physical location with an address. A property consists of two parts: the physical site and the contract.

Parent/Child Property: Necessary when there are multiple "dwellings" within a large property

Site: A site is a building, or part of a building, which requires services; or work to be performed.

Contract: A contract is an agreement between you and the client to perform certain service contracts which will be billed to the billing card. For example, a six monthly fire extinguisher service is a contract. 

Round: Grouping of Tasks based on geography, specific to technicians - can be allocated to a technician Routine.

Service: A service is something that your business sells at a set frequency, on a recurring basis.

Service Contract (Routine): A service contract is a legal agreement to perform a particular service or set of services at a property on a regular basis.

Tags: A tag is a classification tool (eg. attributes, assets, or clients) for clean organisation and easy accessibility.

Task: A task is an activity to be performed on a property of your staff, this activity can involve the execution of one or many service contracts (Routines). 

Variant: A variant is a sub-type of asset (ie. sub-type of extinguisher eg. 2.5 k abe).

Work Order: A work order is an activity to be performed on a property by an external supplier.

ESM: Essential Safety Measure.

AESMR: Annual essential safety measures report.

AFSS: Annual Fire Safety Statement (NSW only).

Passives: Things that a building needs to adhere to based on building code e.g. paths of travel to exit. Visual inspections mostly. Another eg: fire doors should always have levers, not knobs, so people with burned hands/a grip disability can use their elbows.
